Our next interview and Guest Mix comes from Glasgow’s Nico Balducci.
Nico caught our eye having recently warmed up for some of the DJ’s in Glasgow at venues such as Sub Club and SWG3. The end of July we are also playing along side Nico at the Elrow town festival in Edinburgh so it is our pleasure to have him next on our Interview and Mix series!
So what got you in to DJing?
Growing up my mum always played dance music. It kinda stuck with me. What really made my mind up was in 2014 i was at Do Not Sleep, Vista Club (Ibiza). I seen Darius Syrossian B2b Sidney Charles B2b Santé. It literally blew my mind. Had the opportunity to tell Darius / Sidney this recently which was really cool.
How would you describe your sound?
I try and mix it up a bit when i’m playing out. It’s really important to play to the crowd/enviroment. House, Tech House, Minimal Tech and Balearic vibes. Think Solardo, East End Dubs, Chus & Cheballos and Honey Dijon sounds.
Over the past few months you have got more gigs supporting some huge acts such as Solardo, Sonny Fodera, Darius Syrossian, Camelphat and Sidney Charles.. So what has been your best gig so far and who was the best to warm up for?
Tough one! There have been so many. The best gig for me has got to be playing at the mighty Sub Club for SHOW. Packed out and djing with Michael Bibi (top guy btw!). What an experience.
We also seen your playing Wunderground stage at Elrow along with our self’s, How excited are you for this gig and what else do you have planned this year??
VERY. When Elrow/Wunderground got in touch about the gig i couldn’t believe it. My friends Liam & Craig had recommended me and i got the email and phone call. To play for one of the biggest clubbing brands in the world is next level.
I’m playing at quite a few events upcoming. The announced ones include: DUSA, Playground Festival, Elrow, Sanctuary terrace party, Electric Soup, EH1 Festival, Joris voorn @ Swg3 and many more i’m itching to announce.
Have you experimented with music production? If so do you have any releases coming soon?
I have. I released two free downloads that can be found on my soundcloud. I’m currently working on two tracks i plan to have out very soon.
Thanks for recording a mix for us.
What can people expect from it?
You’re welcome. I went all out for this one and didn’t hold back. I put everything into a mix i’ve been playing out recently. Enjoy!
Have you gone for a certain style?
I tend to just play out what i like and try not to worry about categories. If it sounds good i’ll play it. Bangers galore!
Lastly you have to pick three tunes….
